The house is open to visitors by booking online. When available, we sell remaining tickets on the door during opening hours for immediate entry. But we cannot guarantee admission, so we advise advance booking to avoid the disappointment of a wasted journey.

Dennis Severs’ House is available for private hire.

Fees are negotiated on the basis of your requirements. Prices start at £5000.

We can host a wide range of events, including small receptions, dinners, lunches and parties.

The house offers unique filming and photography opportunities. We have a variety of different rooms which lend themselves to backdrops for photographic shoots or filming.

The house is an 18th-century building with uneven floors and many stairs. Sadly this means access is not always possible and we are unable to offer wheelchair access.

However, we are keen to welcome visitors with disabilities. Please email us your requirements before you book and we’ll do our best to enable a visit.

We offer free access to carers accompanying blind or partially sighted visitors.

Our friendly Stewards will find you a chair if you need to sit down.

Please note that the only available toilet facility at Dennis Severs’ House is the chamber pot in the master bedroom. Consequently, visitors are advised to spend a penny before they arrive. We recommend the extensive free cloakrooms at Liverpool St Station.

The Trust was formed in 1977 by a group of Conservation activists fighting to save Spitalfields from being demolished. Dennis Severs bought his house from the Trust in 1979, sold it back to them in 1999 and they manage it in perpetuity.

19 Princelet Street
19 Princelet Street is one of the most extraordinary and mysterious buildings in Spitalfields. Astonishingly, the Victorian synagogue built onto the back of the 18th-century house survives, complete with its original fittings and holy ark. It is testament to a lost community which once defined this part of East London and speaks eloquently of the culture of migration here.
